My Baked Blueberry Cake Donuts

Sunbeam Donut MakerWilton Donut Pan
I love Dunkin Donuts Blueberry Cake Donuts.  I know they are not a healthy choice in their fried goodness.  I got a Sunbeam Donut Maker and Wilton 6-Cavity Doughnut Pan for Christmas and finally had the time try them.  It's snowing here and I'm stuck indoors.

Recipe adapted from Homemade and Wholesome Blueberry Cake Donuts
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 Tbsp unsalted butter, cold and cubed
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  1. Preheat oven to 350F.  Combine the first five ingredients in a large bowl. Blend in butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Place blueberries in a microwave safe bowl and heat for 30-40 seconds until soft and juicy. Whisk in the milk and egg.  Add this to the flour mixture and mix just until combined.
  3. Spoon into a greased donut pan/maker.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes in oven or until ready indicator is lit. Flip donuts in pan after 10 minutes if you like to brown both sides.
  5. Cool donuts on a wire rack for 10 minutes.
  6. Makes about a dozen donuts.
